Cancún

If you want tourist information on Cancún, there are plenty of places to get it, so I'll be brief. You don't have to spend a lot of money to visit Cancún. While most of the luxury resort hotels are located out on Isla Cancún, (see typical beach shot at right) you can find relatively inexpensive lodging on the mainland, in Ciudad Cancún. It's a 10-minute bus ride to the best beaches, and their are plenty of restaurants and clubs on the mainland to keep you busy.

One site I would recommend to nature lovers is the Archeological Zone El Rey, on Isla Cancún amidst all the big hotels. The ruins aren't particularly impressive, but you'll see hundreds of iguanas and a lot of cool birds, like White Ibis, Chachalaca, Cinnamon Humingbird, and Green-Breasted Mango.

I would recommend taking the ferry to Isla Mujeres. You get the party atmosphere of Cancún in a small-town setting, and no matter which direction you walk there's a beautiful beach.
