Pop! Prints from the Milwaukee Art Museum - Exhibition Catalog - Milwaukee Art Museum

16-page paperback booklet, 9 x 9", saddle-stitched, printed in 4-color process

This was I catalog I designed for a low-budget exhibition of works from the permanent collection. All the photographs in the book were pre-existing shots taken from the museum's files. In some cases these photos were in color; in some cases black-and-white.

I illustrated the cover image myself, with obvious inspiration from Roy Lichtenstein. It was done the old-fashioned way, with ink, dot pattern, and a stat camera. As with all my work from the Milwaukee Art Museum, I handled the design and production of this piece from the early stages of conception through the final press check.

Since the title of the exhibition included an exclamation point, I decided to use that as a graphic device throughout the book, starting with the title page (below), and continuing through the text (the following spread).

At the Milwaukee Art Museum, in addition to designing printed materials, I also worked with the curators on the layout of the exhibition, including placement of art works and moveable walls, and produced all the signage, labels and wall graphics for the exhibition.
